In other contexts, you can also use &#8220;desolante&#8221; (also to describe the atmosphere of a painting) or an expression instead of a single word. For example: &#8220;senza nessuna prospettiva&#8221; (for a &#8220;bleak future&#8221;), &#8220;senza speranze&#8221;</p>
