Television has had a significant influence on the culture of many societies.
Television’s influence is one of the most important issue of our time.
TV programs, series, talk-shows and so on, have a huge power: the power to shape viewers’ attitudes, human behavior and thoughts.
Studies have shown that television interacts with family, friends, love affairs, religion, politics and education, therefore the civil society.
Let’s see now how television can have a positive or negative influence on our society. These are just a few points among many others.
It influences in a positive sense the way that people think about such important social issues as gender, class and race.
Educational programs can teach young generation important values and life lessons developping children’s socialization and learning new skills. Historical programming can help make young people more aware of other cultures and about the world around them.
Television is enjoyable, attractive and cheap for everybody, but there are a lot of negative effects on the human beings. Most of the contents broadcasted, such as violence, crime, drugs and sexual scenes, have a terrible influence on its viewers. A wide number of people are addicted to TV. They spend the most of their free time in front of it, they don’t have time to read books, to walk, to meet people and to think!
It depends on each of us: television programming must be valued and chosen for ourselves and for our kids.
One last crucial question: you are what you wacth or you become what you wacht….?!?
