Actually, I’m really critical about news and means of information in general. I think that since social media have spread and taken off all over the world the situation is increasingly worsen.

In Italy I really struggle to find newspapers or tv news that are not biased or sensationalist, I’d rather get information through weekly newspapers or comparing the news in different newspapers or tvnews channnels from different countries.

In that perspective social media and the internet can be useful and have a positive outcome, because you can easily have access to countless and diverse kind of information.

To avoid fake news I try to read news only from accountable, reliable and authotitative websites that are not too much mainstream.

    Well said @chiaramig

I find it hard to find unbiased news too. I tend to trust The Guardian, but even then, you have to read some of it with a pinch of salt. (Did you hear about the BBC cutting Nicola Sturgeons Covid updates?!)

I also come across some interesting news on social, but again, you have to be careful of the source.

NB: I think that since social media have spread and taken off all over the world the situation is increasingly worsen.

    > I think that since social media HAS spread and taken off all over the world the situation is increasingly worsenING.

or >the situation is becoming increasingly worse.

or with an idiom: > the situation is taking a turn for the worse

Thanks Kerin, I didn’t heard about Nicola Sturgeons last updates.

Indeed in this period I’m avoiding catching up with the news, too gloomy and unreliable..
