I’d rather Mystery novels that KEEP ME ON MY TOES until the end of the book.

I hate Mystery novels (like De Giovanni’s books) that start with an EXCITING HOOK, but after only a few pages you are able to guess right the felon.

In Fred Vargas’s books, the main character (the absent-minded chief of police Adamsberg) SOLVES THE CASE with a lot of imagination and insightfulness. These works DON’T LACK IN HUMOR, even though they are full of suspence.

I love MYSTERIOUS and SUSPENFUL stories, full of PLOT TWISTS, where the Author DROPS small CLUES, sometimes using RED HERRINGS, in order to divert/distract the reader.

Morning @Vale – excellent use of the vocabulary.

    Just this to note:

    > I’d rather Mystery novels … watch out here: I’d rather + verb

Therefore: I’d rather READ Mystery novels or I prefer Mystery novels …
