I have been to China many times when living in Singapore.

In my opinion for many Chinese people English still represents a way to feel part of the Western culture and to what this means to them (job opportunities, access to its long history, its way of living and the great sense of style).

I still remember one of my co-workers looking at me with such a sense of admiration, as an opportunity to get to know more about Italy and Italians, including our well-recognized love for food and wine.

On the other side I do not believe that all Chinese People are guided by this sense of admiration but rather they see it as a mandatory step towards a highly competitive world where China and Chinese aim to play the role of the biggest world economic power.

Personally speaking English gave me the chance to open up my mind. Traveling for both leisure and business without knowing English would not give the the opportunity to deal with different cultures while learning more about its peculiarities.

So interesting @valeria.maraviglia thanks for sharing. I have never had the opportunity to visit China (it’s on my bucket list!). What an experience!

What you’ve written is very well expressed. Here are a few pointers to make it even more fluent!

TIP! When you use words and phrases that indicate that you’re about to present an important fact or idea, use a comma:

In my opinion, On the other hand, personally speaking, For instance, However etc etc

The comma helps to introduce the idea and signal a slight interruption in the sentence, so it will read and sound more fluent.

    > well-recognized – replace with well-known
