    Hi girls!

I would definitively like to read the books that @Vale suggested, so I don’t have any to add to.

But on the other hand I totally trust you @Kerin and your ability in choosing books for our fav bookclub.

Can’t wait to see you again and looking forward to starting to read and to discuss a new book together!

    XxChiara

Thanks Kerin, I didn’t heard about Nicola Sturgeons last updates.

Indeed in this period I’m avoiding catching up with the news, too gloomy and unreliable..

    Thanks for your words Kerin!

Actually I did enjoy this task a lot, as I’m really into art and as I like Hopper so much, his art always touches me deep inside me and makes me think a lot.

And you’re not picky, your corrections are very useful for me indeed.

Thanks Kerin, actually the use of past tenses in English is still a complete mistery to me!

Also I’m still struggling with some use of the -ing form Rolling Eyes

To me enjoy art is something really spontaneous and direct, it deals mainly with feelings, emotions and sensations so it doesn’t matter which kind of art or which period as long as I’m just mesmerized by a painting or a sculpture or a building.

I do love art, I would say that I’m basically an art addicted, but I found out only in my late forties how keen on art I have become. Beforehand I used to go to art museums only when I travelled abroad as being part of the normal and due sightseing activity in visiting a new place or city.

Now to go and visit an art museum or to attend an art exhibiton is quite a “necessity” for me, it’s something that I enjoy so much, something fulfilling: contemplating a work of art not only often can move me because of its beauty, but also can be an occasion for raising new curiosities and for longing for knowing more about the artist and what has inspired him in creating his art.

Art has been part of human history since the ancient times, as a matter of fact in modern times there have been many discoveries about the artistic paintings made on stones in hidden caves back in the Neolitic times

Artistic crreations are something that have ever been existing in any society, no matter which is the cultural or historical heritage: art it’s something that belongs to human beings.

In my opinion art is important for every society, because it expresses the deepest and inner part of human beings, it is a powerful means for connecting people from different backgrounds, countries, culture, times uniting them through a universal, silent bond.

Thanks Kerin, I’m glad you like my accentBlush

I agree with you my pisano accent sometimes slips back, above all when I’m knackered, as if the real Chiara is coming out again!

p.s. I felt ashamed for “taked” Relaxed I must try to be more attentive now on, no way to make such a kind of mistake

Actually, I don’t know really if there’s any snobbery about accent in Italy. Being Italy made by many different regions using different dialects you don’t care about people having different accents, it’s just normal.
You can like an accent or not, maybe in my opinion people with ā€œmilaneseā€ accent can be seen as a little bit posh, but that’s all.

Getting more and more into British culture I’ve realised how this accent stuff can be ā€œdiscriminatingā€ between upper class people and working class.

I must admit that I was only discriminated in my own region Tuscany. Moving from my hometown near Pisa to Florence to attend university When I was young, many here in Florence taked the piss about my ā€œpisanoā€ accent, almost bullied me.
Now, after living for many years in Florence I’ve gained a Florentine accent, you have to survive in some way!

In learning foreign languages I’m very picky about pronunciation, I really would like to speak other languages with no accent at all, aboveall I’m sick of hearing me speaking English with an Italian accent. I do love British accent, I mean not only the RP one, but also others such as the Scottisch or the Northerner or the Londoner. So I still struggle a lot with pronunciation, but try not to give up!

Thank you Kerin, actually it didn’t take me much time, it just came out quickly.

    I just need a clarification:

    “sucked
    into weird videos <s>being</s>
that are in over my head in this organization”

I can’t really get this correction. What I wanted to express through this sentence was that I was in over my head in the organization of the party, did it mean the same according to this correction?
