Even if I’m not obsessed, I do care about pronunciation because I think it completes the comprehension of a language. In general, being confident on pronunciation helps you avoiding taking a beamer, on the contrary, not being confident can make you shy away from express yourself. In my opinion, I truly believe it is worth to valorize the nuance of our accent because, as it is for voice timber, it is unique for everyone and it helps to express your personality. On the other hand, I think it is worth a try to smooth the peaks of our accent and try to result more fluent and pleasant to be listened to. In fact, even if accent doesn’t hinder the flow of a conversation, the risk is that people are more concentrated on the way you’re saying things rather than their content and sometimes they don’t even take you so seriously. I do have lots of example, one for all https://www.youtube.com/watch?<wbr>v=p3qBlHqWgtY

    What do you think?

Thank you Kerin, double checking would be a better option in order to spare some mistakes. Please find my correction here (I still have a doubt on “Sure is”):

I think that slang is affected by many factors and laziness could be one of them, but I WOULDN’t say that it is the most relevant one. OF COURSE slang gravitateS towards what is all the rage in a specific moment and in a specific area. And that’s the crucial point: it evolves continuosly, making him even more difficult to learn.

Watching fims in original language HAS helped me to become familiar WITH some slang expressions, even if, most of the time when it is used, I can only hope to get the gist out of the context.

I think slang happens to be important in informal content and in every day life. For example I VISITED a friend in London last year and I found myself asking him several times to clue me in on what people were saying to us and that made me really disappointed.

    Hi Kerin, thanks for sharing.

Just a couple of questions on the topic. Isn’t it also “eager on” a valid option for example n.2?

I’ve just read a title on my news feed, which says: “Working from home bolster Paolo’s love ON biscuits” (I changed the subject and object, but not the structure). I would have used FOR instead, is it still correct?

    Thank you.

Thank you @Kerin , I actually enjoyed writing this “script”. Maybe I could name it “boredom in the house”, but let’s see if I can come up with something more catchy.

I’ve just seen your tweaks and comments. I should have known the correct tense of the verbs, a refresh sounds good. Instead, I don’t feel solid while I’m using propositions (verb + i.e. about, for, at), I just go by ear. Do you have any recommendations to look at? Thank you

Thank you Kerin, first of all I apologize for having monopolized the forum with the giant video, I didn’t expect while I was posting it 🙂 !

    My corrections:

    – being confident about

    – not sure on this

    – expressing yourself

Thanks for sharing your point of view, I’ve just realized it’s the first time that I’m having a discussion on this topic with a native speaker 😊it’s really enriching!

By the way, I am becoming quite conflicted about the example too. I think attitude counts more than accent.

Thank you very much Kerin, all comments are clear. I’ve just looked up online for the plural of content and chance and I’ve seen there are small cases for their usage. That was super useful.
